Catholics United to Peter
MISSION STATEMENT
Catholics United to Peter (CUP) pledge to ensure that the celebration of the most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist will be protected from any irreverence or distortion, because these acts mar the sign of unity and the bond of charity that the Eucharist ought to be. Redemptionis Sacramentum (2004), the instruction on the discipline of the sacraments, reiterated that every Catholic has the right and duty to forward a complaint regarding abuses in the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist to the Diocesan Bishop or to the Apostolic See. Out of love for the Holy Father, our Bishop and his brother priests, we pledge:
-
To pray on a regular basis for our Pope, Bishop and Priests.
-
To assist any Catholic, whether Priest, Deacon, Religious or lay member of Christ’s faithful, to lodge a documented report or complaint to the proper authorities.
-
To carry out our duties without favouritism.
-
To insure, in so far as possible, that said reports or complaints brought to our attention will be submitted first to the parish priest involved, and then to the diocesan Bishop or the competent. Ordinary equivalent to him in law.
PRAYER FOR PRIESTS
O Almighty God, look upon the face of your Son, and for the love of Him who is the Eternal High Priest, have pity on your priests. Remember, O most compassionate God, that they are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation. Keep them close to you, lest the enemy prevail against them, so that they may never do anything unworthy of their sublime vocation.
O Jesus, I pray for your faithful and fervent priests; for your unfaithful and tepid priests; for your tempted priests: for your lonely and desolate priests; for your young priests; for your dying priests; for the souls of your priests in purgatory. O Jesus, keep them all close to your heart, and bless them abundantly in time and eternity. Amen
